What Really Is Plant Medicine ?

Hi

Do I fully understand Plant medicine

This is a huge question , my answer is no because the subject is huge and very deep. The purpose of this video is to arouse your curiosity and excitement around the wonderful medicinal properties of everyday plants we know .

My name is stephen bones and I practice shamanism.

Shamans use plant medicine as we all know for trance state healing with such things as peyote, ayahuasca, etc any many in the spiritual space will have a perception of plant medicine through these particular plants.

What I want to do is to get you to look so much deeper into the medicinal properties of plants.
Plants were the only form of medicine until the early 1800’s when the beginning’s of what we know today as Pharma started by synthesising herbs, salicylic acid, derived from the bark of the White Willow tree was first isolated by a French Chemist in 1853 under laboratory conditions. but it wasn’t isolated until the early 19th century, this led to what we know as Aspirin.

Its so interesting as there is now a resurgence of interest in plant medicine and what the medicinal properties of various plants are.

I am not going into detail of what plants do what only to say look into the subject deeper ask AI what is a natural herbal remedy for …

Weeds such as Dandelion and Nettles in our garden’s have huge benefits and a lot of the modern drugs today have had the compounds of various plants isolated then synthesised in a lab to create the Pharma industry we now know today.

There are some very well trained herbalist that can help further these people have usually been working with plant medicine for decades and understand what each plant does and they also know more importantly what effect one herb can have on another. Meaning that each of us are individuals and when it comes to thing’s more than an upset stomach sore throat or aching muscles from over exertion its best to consult a herbalist rather than thinking one dose of a plant fits all .

With that said there are many things we can add to our diet that can benefit us in many ways for instance Nasturtium flowers, leaves and stems , all packed with vitamin C and also has anti bacterial plus other medicinal properties . You can add Nasturtium to salads the flowers are pretty the leaves a peppery tase but I would recommend young leaves again google it do your own research.
